My ability to interact with people at work and in social settings was affected by social anxiety. Julie helped me understand my problems and develop the confidence I needed to take risks being myself when I was interacting with others. She guided me through the the sometimes painful challenge of recognizing how I was contributing to some of my own problems with others. My life would not be the same without the trusting relationship that developed between Julie and I. (Wendy K.)
At the start of therapy, I worked at a low paying, menial job, was drinking too much and using cocaine daily. During the course of therapy with Julie, I decided to stop drinking and using drugs. She helped me manage the times when I slipped, and was firm but understanding as I struggled to change. During our work together, I completed college, started a professional career and learned how to deal with anxiety I had at staff meetings, where I felt scrutinized. For years I had lived with disabling feelings of self doubt and resentment towards others. My marriage, career, health and parenting skills have improved thanks to therapy with Julie, who is intuitive, direct and creative in her approach to helping others. (Barry D.)
I came into therapy feeling hopeless about the possibility that I would ever be able to meet the right intimate partner and get married. I wanted a family and felt ready, emotionally, but relationships never seemed to work for me. I wanted to give up, but Julie wouldn't let me. Julie never lost faith in me, even when I insisted that I would be alone forever. She helped me keep going, and prevented me from letting setbacks stop my progress. Thanks Julie! (Debbie K.)
